The handle on the knife below is Kauri wood from a bog, it carbon dated to be about 5000 years old. I have never seen such beautiful wood. The light moves through the grain in an amazing way. This is a great example of a simple way to make a very distinctive knife. It does however come with it's cost. A piece of Kauri large enough for a knife handle costs me plus it takes more time to work and uses my abrasives faster. If you are interested in Kauri please contact me and we can figure out the extra cost based on the whole project. |
There are 7 new knives coming up soon. A couple fighters, a boot knife, a scandinavian knife, a traditional O-tanto, a stick tang utility knife and a really sleek cross between a fighter and a skinner. Most will have stabilized wood handles and leather sheaths. If you are interested in any of them email me and if I haven't started work on that particular blade yet you can specify the handle material used, pins, how far I take the hand polish and material for sheath/scabbard. |
